This one feels mysterious. (Thanks for the new word for the day. I had to look up "anodyne"!)
Thanks, Diana. It was a bit of word-play for me. A daffodil is a narcissus, which is supposed to have narcotic effects. A meaning of anodyne is soothing. And it has the same vowel sound as "half", "daffodil" and "shadow".
